Comprehensive Review and Feedback of the Regional Innovation-Centered University Support System (RISE) Performance

From February 5 to 6, Korea University Sejong Campus Sejong RISE Project Group held the ‘1st Year Performance Dissemination and Sharing Conference for the Sejong RISE Project’ at Lotte Resort in Buyeo, Chungnam. The event was organized to systematically share and disseminate the key achievements derived from the first year of project implementation both internally and externally, and to circulate the outcomes through exchanges with regional partner institutions.

A total of 108 participants attended the conference, including members of the Sejong RISE Project Group, Sejong City, Sejong Technopark, local industries, related organizations and partner institutions, as well as university officials.

The event was divided into Session 1 and Session 2, during which in-depth discussions were held regarding performance reviews and areas for improvement.

On the first day, presentations focused on operational achievements by each unit project in the first year. Through this, the university community’s understanding of the overall project was enhanced, and the organic linkage and collaboration system among the unit projects was further strengthened. In particular, the Korea University Sejong RISE Project Group comprehensively presented achievements linked to the core goals of the first-year RISE project, such as fostering region-settled human resources and expanding industry-academia-research cooperation.

In addition, a banquet and networking program were operated in parallel, providing a practical venue for exchange where the cooperative structure among the university, local government, and industry was reaffirmed and the foundation for sustainable cooperation was further advanced.

On the second day, practical collaborative tasks were derived through in-depth discussions by session, and active exchanges of opinions continued regarding Sejong RISE project cooperation networking and the direction of implementation for the second year.

Yang Jiwoon, head of the Sejong RISE Project Group, stated, “This sharing conference marks a meaningful turning point to comprehensively review the achievements of the first year and verify administrative consistency. We will fully reflect the suggestions from the field to complete a second-year project model that further strengthens the regional innovation ecosystem of Sejong City.”

Relatedly, the Korea University Sejong RISE Project Group plans to comprehensively review the internal and external opinions and discussion results collected during this event and actively reflect them in the planning of next year’s project and the improvement of performance indicators (KPI) for each unit project.

In addition, the event was evaluated as having provided a foundation for advancing the performance management system based on the achievements of the first year, while allowing the university and the local community to reaffirm their shared goals. Moving forward, efforts will continue to further strengthen networking across the Sejong regional areas and to ensure that the achievements in education and industry-academia cooperation are widely disseminated to both the university and the local community.
